Leisure Center
PURPOSE
The Leisure Center has been provided by the University for the exclusive use and enjoyment of AUS employees and their families.
CHILDREN, YOUTH & ADULTS
Children are defined as being under 12 years of age; youths 12 to 17; adults 18 and over.
Leisure Center Hours
Sunday to Thursday
8:00 am - 12:00 pm
2:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Friday and Saturday
8:30 am - 9:00 pm
POOL REGULATIONS
- The lifeguard on duty is responsible for implementing and enforcing the Leisure Center rules and regulations.
- A designated adult (over 18 years) is responsible for and must supervise children at all times. Adults should limit the number of children they supervise.
- Non-swimmers must stay in the shallow end of the pool.
- Children who are not potty trained must wear swimming diapers in both pools.
- The Jacuzzi is for adult use only.
- All swimmers must shower before entering the pools.
- Diving and jumping into the pool is only permitted in the deep end, and then at an individual’s own risk.
- Running around the edge of the pool is not permitted.
- Unruly behavior that may lead to injury is not permitted.
- Food must not be eaten near the pool; however, food and drinks can be brought into the facility, but must be consumed at the tables provided.
- The lifeguard/manager may close the pool during the cleaning process or during any other pool maintenance that requires the pool to be empty.
- All Swimmers must wear appropriate swimwear in the pool.
- An adult must supervise children using the slide.
GYM RULES
- Individuals 15 to 18 years may use the Gym during lifeguard hours only.
- Those youths aged 12 to 14 years may use the Gym during lifeguard hours if
supervised by an adult.
- Only adults 18 years or over who hold valid ID cards will have gym access
after lifeguard hours.
- Individuals entering the Gym from the pool area must be dry.
- Appropriate Gym shoes must be worn while in the Gym.
- Exercise machines must not be moved.
- Exercise sessions on a particular machine must be limited to half an hour if
others are waiting.
- Exercise equipment must be used appropriately.
- Individuals using the Gym must wear proper attire.
- Equipment must be returned to their location after use.
- Machines should be wiped after use.
GENERAL REGULATIONS
- All users of the Leisure Center must register upon entering.
- Children are allowed in the Leisure Center until 8pm.
- No glass objects are permitted in the facility.
- Smoking is allowed only in the designated smoking area.
- The TV room and the Gym are non-smoking areas.
- Amplified music is not allowed. Music with earplugs is acceptable.
- For the sake of the nearby tenants, general noise should be kept to minimum.
- Pets are not allowed.
- The area must be kept clean. Please use the bins provided.
- Pool furniture is available on a “first come” basis.
- Families and individuals using the Leisure Center do so at their own risk.
Rules, regulations and guidelines are necessary and important, but they should
not be seen as a substitute for common sense and parental guidance.
The Lifeguard on duty is primarily responsible for enforcing these rules. Any
flagrant or repeated abuse will be reported for appropriate action.
