Plan I
Plan I is compulsory for AUS-sponsored students, and for those who do not have health insurance cover of their own.
Benefits include:
A) Full medical and hospitalization insurance up to AED 50,000 for hospitalization and AED 7,000 for outpatient expenses.
In-hospital confinement medical expenses covers necessary reasonable and customary cost and expenses for:
- Hospital Room and Board during Hospital confinement (within the limits shown in the schedule).
- Intensive Care Unit if found necessary by attending specialist.
- General Nursing Care during hospital confinement (not members of immediate family).
- Hospital Services, Expenses and supplies for Medical Care in the Hospital.
- X-ray (except dental and general health check-up)
- Radiotherapy, Lab tests and analysis.
- Medicines (dispensed by a licensed pharmacist with a written prescription), medicines, surgical dressing blood and blood plasma.
- Supports, rental of wheel chair or iron –lung when (prescribed by a Specialist). Artificial limbs and eyes (necessitated by disability which commences during the effective period of the Policy), cast, splints, trusses, braces and crutches.
- Anesthetics and Administration thereof.
- Medical, Surgical and Specialist fees (excluding dental, unless the treatment is for accident injuries and sound natural teeth as a result of violent and external means within 190 days of the date of accident).
- Outpatient Expenses
If as a result of a disability, bodily injury or sickness, an Insured incurs expenses for professional attendance, treatment by a physician, medicines prescribed by a licensed physician during the course of treatment, diagnostic x-ray examinations or microscopic or other laboratory tests or analysis for causes other than pregnancy, while not confined as a bed patient in a public or private hospital, the Insurance Company shall make reimbursement for such expenses up to the maximum set forth in Policy Schedule provided such examinations are made or ordered by a physician.
(PS: Treatment related to pre-existing medical condition is not covered by insurance)
B) Coverage on campus and throughout the UAE.
C) 20% co-pay on medicines. Deductible of Dh. 25/- for consultation will have to be paid if referred to other specialists.
D) Health services at the University Health Center on campus (as listed in Plan II)
