2005-10-23
The American University of Sharjah (AUS), in collaboration with AMIDEAST, will establish a testing center to offer various external exams on campus such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) that will cater to its students as well as to students from the community. This was announced at an agreement signing ceremony between the two organizations held today, Monday, October 17, 2005, on the AUS campus.
According to the agreement, AMIDEAST will provide AUS with assistance in establishing and maintaining a testing center on the AUS campus where these tests will be available to AUS students as well as other students from the community.
“We are pleased that we have reached agreement with AMIDEAST to better serve our students and community in providing an additional center for exams on our campus,” said Dr. Winfred Thompson, AUS Chancellor, on the occasion.
Ms. Mary C. Corrado, Country Director, AMIDEAST, echoed Chancellor Thompson’s sentiments and said that the agreement would prove mutually beneficial to both organizations. “We are honored and pleased to continue working with AUS to expand testing and assessment at the university,” she said.
Along with the Chancellor Thompson and Ms. Corrado, the ceremony was attended by Mr. Salem Al Qaseer, AUS Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs, and Mr. Ali Shuhaimy, AUS Dean of Admissions.
