Mass Communication - Faculty Bios
Dr. Mahboub Hashem
Full Professor and MCM Chair Dr. Mahboub E. Hashem received his M.A. and Ph. D. degrees in Communication from Florida State University in 1981 and 1984, respectively. He also received B.A and M.A. degrees in languages from the Lebanese University, Lebanon. Dr. Hashem taught a variety of courses for over 25 years in the USA, Lebanon, and the UAE. He served as business and communication consultant/referent for the Governor’s Gifted Institute of Ohio, Oasis Mediterranean Cuisine Company, and a variety of TV stations, churches, clubs, schools and businesses. He served as president of the Kansas Speech Communication Association, director of Graduate Studies at Fort Hays State University; he chaired numerous committees as well as AUS’ Department of English, Communication, and Translation before MCM became a separate department in 2003-04. A much-published scholar who has written books, chapters, encyclopedia entries and periodical articles, he currently serves on the Global Media Journal editorial board. He has delivered numerous papers at national and international conventions on public speaking, education, leadership and organizations, intercultural diversity, consulting, media effects, and a variety of other issues.
