The department is committed to excellence in teaching and quality research. We are proud that we have amassed a talented and dedicated group of faculty with Ph.D’s from world-renowned universities and work experience from leading industrial firms. One of our primary goals is to be one of the best departments in the region.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at the American University of Sharjah offers two programs, one program leads to a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, and the other leads to a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering . Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the UAE Ministry of Higher Education.

The two programs have curricula grounded in academic excellence, and designed to produce graduates who are exceptionally competent and whose work is notable for its technical excellence.

Through innovative classroom instruction supported by laboratories equipped with the state-of-the-art hardware and software, the curricula introduces the student to both fundamental and advanced knowledge in areas such as internet computing, embedded systems, networking technology, computer security, and software engineering.

Currently our graduates are working in regional and multinational companies in the gulf region and beyond, and some are pursuing graduate studies in reputable universities in North America and Europe.

The department also has a graduate program leading to a Masters degree in Computer Engineering.
