The Engineering Systems Management (ESM) graduate program provides the technical and managerial skills for engineers from all engineering disciplines to manage people, processes, and projects in an effective and efficient manner. Accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, the ESM program is designed based on quality standards similar to those followed by North American universities. The program is launched in 2002 as the first ESM program in the region and has become one of the most popular graduate programs at the American University of Sharjah. The demand for the program continues to be high with an average of 25 students enrolled every year.

It is our experience that most engineering graduates end up in working environments where management and decision making knowledge and skills would be greatly needed. This is especially true for most engineers in the United Arab Emirate statistics show that more than 75 percent of all engineers assume management responsibility within the first five years of professional practice. Therefore, regardless of their engineering background, all engineers should be equipped with a wide variety of engineering management skills that will help them in making and implementing operational and strategic decisions. ESM program is the right choice for engineers wishing to have strong education in managing and integrating people, capital, technology, and information to satisfy customers’ needs with the least cost, high quality and reliable products or services.
