Hardware/Software Optimizations for Many-Core Platforms (October 2017)
Introduction of a few recent hardware/software optimization techniques for many-core architectures targeted at multimedia applications such as audio, video and graphics.
Speaker: Dr. Haris Javaid
Senior Software Engineer with Google
Dr. Haris Javaid received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Later, he was a Research Associate at the same university working on an industrial project with Canon Information Systems and Research Australia. Currently, he is with Google as a Senior Software Engineer.
His research interests are in computer architecture, low power and high performance platforms for emerging application domains such as Internet-of-Things and Cyber-Physical systems, and distributed systems for big data. He has received many awards for his research, including a best Australian dissertation award and the Microsoft Research fellowship. He has also served as TPC member of many international conferences.
