Top students recognized at Honors Convocation

American University of Sharjah honored its most distinguished students at the Eight Annual Honors Convocation held September 27 in the Main Auditorium.

Out of the 386 students honored, 185 belonged to the School of Engineering, 122 to the School of Business and Management, 41 to the School of Architecture and Design and 38 to the College of Arts and Sciences. All the students have a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher.

“It is an honor to have this opportunity to address such a large number of students who include the brightest, most accomplished and hardest-working members of the student body at AUS,” said Chancellor Winfred Thompson during his convocation address.

“I encourage you to continue to apply yourselves as long as you remain at AUS in undergraduate or post graduate study and to take the same determination and effort you have shown here into your careers and lives,” said Dr. Thompson. He also expressed his appreciation of the efforts and support of the faculty members and the parents in helping the students achieve their goals.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. John Mosbo, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, congratulated the students on their academic achievement and success. “These students are a very select group. They have met the intellectual challenges and rigor of the courses they completed, produced top-quality work, and demonstrated to the faculty exceptional academic performance.”
