American University of Sharjah (AUS) will host a series of student, charitable and cultural activities throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, said the university activities are meant to bring students together during the holy month and introduce them to how people from different cultures celebrate. “I want to wish everyone a blessed Ramadan. What we are trying to do throughout the month is illustrate the true spirit of Ramadan, and send the message of love and charity,” she said.
The AUS Office of Student Affairs will hold an iftar party on campus for the elderly in Sharjah and Ajman. The event will also bring together 500 students. In addition, an iftar dinner will be held on campus for orphaned children.
The Islamic Cultural Club is organizing four lectures to talk about the meaning of Ramadan and introduce non-Muslim students and faculty members to its significance. The first event, Ramadan 101, will be held Sunday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A.
