Fire Safety
- A fire alarm sound indicates that an emergency exists please leave everything behind and move quickly to the nearest exit door.
- A fire drill will be conducted on regular basis in the dorms to enhance students’ evacuation time. Your participation is necessary to understand and practice the procedures .
- Residents MUST NOT set a fire within university buildings or areas next to them.
- In non-designated areas, residents MUST NOT burn a candle; use a broiler oven, electric coffee maker, popcorn popper, toaster, microwave, hotplate, open burner or electric water-heating device, charcoal or any open flame .
- Staff on duty are the ones responsible to evacuate the facility.
- Residents MUST NOT Replace any university-provided room draperies with something other than fire-retardant materials.
- Residents MUST NOT run electrical wires beneath any rug or carpet.
- Residents MUST NOT use electrical lights totals more than 850 watts in a student room at a given time.
- Residents MUST NOT keep flammable chemicals, Firearms, Fireworks, Weapons and Explosives.
- Residents MUST NOT use any marked fire exit except during a fire drill or in the event of an actual fire.
- Residents MUST NOT tamper with fire equipment or removing fire extinguishers from their mounts.
- Residents MUST NOT activate a fire alarm when no fire is present or falsely report a fire or other emergency.
- Residents MUST NOT disconnect the alarm of or tamper with any smoke detector.
- Residents MUST NOT block any fire door or fire exit.
Caution:
- Leaving your food on the hotplate unmonitored, is the most common cause of fire in the dormitories. Do not leave the room even for a short interval while the hot plate is ON.
- Residing Student is fully liable for any damages caused due to neglect and charges will be immediately forwarded to his/her account after evaluation.
