| Guidelines for International Students
Now that you have been admitted to AUS, we look forward
to your arrival. Listed here are a few tips that will
help you prepare for your journey. While in the UAE,
you will need to obey all the rules and regulations
set forth by those in authority.
ISSA publishes the International Student Handbook,
which is used as a guide for all those new to the country
and the university. Copies of this handbook may be
obtained from the ISSA Office, MM25 in the Main Building,
extension 2079.

Travel plans and arrival
- Make travel reservations to the UAE as soon
as possible.
- If you require pickup from the
airport, notify us of your arrival details and
date at least 72 hours in advance by faxing Form
#4, which was included in your admissions packet.
- Keep
your visa* and all AUS correspondence (such
as your letter of admission and transfer evaluation)
and pieces of identification (valid passport, driving
license) in your carry-on luggage.
- Present
the visa at the UAE international airports.
- After
you arrive safely in the UAE, please visit
the ISSA Office (Main Building, MM25) as soon as
possible to begin the process to obtain your residence
permit.
- Remember to complete the following
forms and submit them before your arrival at
AUS: dorms form, which should be sent to Student
Affairs; transportation form (if you require the
pick up from airport service); and the medical form,
which should be sent to the AUS University Health
Center.
What to bring
- Pictures of your family, home and country
for your own enjoyment and to show to your new
friends.
- Enough money to live on until you can
open a bank account and arrange for funds to be
transferred from home.
What not to bring
- Expensive jewelry and treasured possessions,
since there is always a chance that these items
can get lost or damaged during travel or during
your stay.
- Firearms, knives, weapons, or articles that
could be perceived as weapons.
- Things you can easily
buy in the UAE, such as notebooks, pens, paper,
toiletries, towels or bed sheets. (These items
will take up valuable space in your luggage.)
