Steering Committee
The Steering Committee Members from across campus were selected based on their areas of expertise and/or interest in order to give a balanced representation with a variety of perspectives. A hierarchical organization was adopted so that the steering committee comprised the chairs of the other eight study committees and the two self-study co-chairs, as well as members-at-large and ex officio members. The steering committee began meeting regularly in September 2002.
In October 2002, Chancellor Winfred Thompson issued a call for volunteers to work on the self-study. With input from the steering committee, these volunteers were assigned to the eight study committees. Selection was based on stated interest of the volunteers, as well as on their expertise. The assignments were made so as to maximize the input from all parts of campus, with representation of faculty, students, and staff. At least one student was named to each study committee. Over 60 individuals served on the committees.
