Graduation and Alumni Celebration held

On Friday, May 26, the Office of Undergraduate Programs and Alumni Affairs (UPAA) joined with the AUS Alumni Association to host a Graduation and Alumni Celebration at AUS. This event served as a social networking opportunity for the fresh graduates as well as previous graduates, all of who now hold the title of alumni. 

There were many notable guests present at this event including Chancellor Winfred Thompson, former Chancellor Roderick French, Dean of UPAA Wadiah Atiyah, several AUS Alumni Association officers as well as guest speaker and alumnus Ansar Babu Mohideen. Although there was representation from each of the classes from 2001 to 2006, the majority of the attendees were class of 2006 graduates. The theme of this event was networking and involvement. Ansar’s speech emphasized AUS pride and keeping strong ties to the university even after graduation. He said, “The time has come for us to give…for us to share…need not be money…but at least the passion that each one of us possesses. That is our identity, and that could be your biggest gift to AUS.” 

 “These events are meant to serve as a networking occasion for everyone in attendance; the alumni should take advantage of the great resources found in each other. AUS produces quality graduates that can serve as mentors, partners, friends, supporter and passion igniters, the alumni should thrive off one another,” said Dean Atiyah.
