Our graduates are leaders in improving the built environment in the region and beyond.
Through our emphasis on cutting-edge technology, hands-on education and critical thinking skills, the Department of Architecture prepares students to contribute significantly to the professional world of architecture and interior design.
The Department of Architecture has two degree programs: a five-year Bachelor of Architecture and four-year Bachelor of Interior Design. Our Bachelor of Architecture program is the first program of its kind outside North America to be granted accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) of the United States.
Both programs offer a design-oriented curriculum based on the most current information and practices. While most architecture and allied disciplines within the region occupy sub-departments of engineering schools, the architecture and interior design programs at AUS are housed within a College of Architecture, Art and Design that specializes in these fields.
In addition to offering our students a strong theoretical base, we believe in the importance of learning through application and hands-on experience. Because of this belief, our department has made it a priority to equip classrooms and laboratories with the most current, advanced equipment available in the field. This includes:
We attract a diverse, multilingual student body with unique cultural backgrounds and quality academic histories. Our students' academic work has been recognized in international competitions and is regularly published in journals as demonstration of their hard work and excellence.
Since the first commencement cycle for the BArch degree program in Spring 2003, we have graduated over 250 architects and interior designers. Department alumni have been recognized in international competitions, employed at globally operating architectural firms and accepted into prestigious academic institutions in Europe and North America such as Harvard University, Columbia University, MIT, the Architectural Association (London) and many others.
