Media Equipment Center
The CAAD Labs Media Equipment Center maintains and provides technical support for the college’s inventory of media equipment. Students and faculty from all departments have access to a wide range of equipment including 4k digital cameras, DSLR cameras, microphones, projectors, film cameras, lighting kits and more.
Media Production Studio
The Media Production Studio (AD1-104, AD1-104a, and AD1-103b), is a group of time-based and interactive media production and post-production facilities, which is a vital asset for the functioning and growth of the multimedia design program as well as the two related minors, 1) film and 2) illustration and animation. In contrast to the workflows related to journalism, the Media Lab is designed for flexibility and experimentation focusing on the following activities:
AD1_104 is the main space and the heart of the Media Production Lab. This multi-function space enables the long-term setup of complex production systems such as camera dolly track systems, chroma-key (green and blue screen) capabilities for advanced compositing and animation workflows, professional lighting grid system, and motion capture devices such as Kinect for instruction and multimedia content production. Installed retractable bleachers further extend functionality of the space to allow media screenings, lectures and increased workspace flexibility.
AD1_104A is a post-production area on the second floor of AD1-104. It is dedicated to student exposure to professional post-production equipment, which includes a sound isolation booth for foley and voice-overs, workstations for audio recording, non-linear video editing, and professional color grading and finishing.
AD1_103B is a post-production lab next to AD1-104. This space is mainly dedicated to non-linear video editing, color grading and finishing, computer generated imagery, and media authoring.
This specialist lab is designed for 35mm film developing and analogue print making resources and is dedicated to analogue photography processes. The lab includes safe light, chemicals baths, eight enlargers, and a print dryer.
Photography Lighting Studio
This studio is equipped with studio flash lighting that is suitable for advanced documentation of art and design work as well as for a creative engagement with studio lighting as a genre. The studio is designed as a neutral space that can be used by a range of individuals and used as a class base for some photography courses. The studio is monitored by a manager who oversees the studio equipment, use of the studio and bookings. Resources include:
