Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) First Honorable Mention Award went to AUS INE students for their senior design project
The Student Research Awards at AUS honor innovative undergraduate research projects for depth of investigation, completeness of application, innovation, creativity as well as communication and presentation skills. Organized by the AUS Office of Research and Graduate Studies, and sponsored by Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) and British Petroleum (BP), the awards ceremony was held at the university on April 12, 2017.
The Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) First Honorable Mention award went to the project "Optimizing the Manufacturing Processes of Carbon Fiber Epoxy Resin Composite Panels" conducted by industrial engineering students (INE) Bayan Hamdan and Sarah Lafi under supervision of Dr. Noha M. Hassan.
INE students were chosen from a pool of nominees presented by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS); the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD); the College of Engineering (CEN); and the School of Business Administration (SBA).
AUS INE students win First Place ASQ Annual Student Competition
INE students Areej Mahmoud and Mai Ashraf received the first place award of the American Society of Quality (ASQ) annual student competition, which was held during the ASQ-Middle East and Africa annual conference in Dubai October 18-19, 2016. The team presented their senior design project entitled “Quality Improvement of Ta’sheel Service Center using Six Sigma Methodology." The team competed with nine other quality-related projects coming from five different countries and went through several stages of screening before they were announced as the winners. The senior design project was supervised by Dr. Mahmoud Awad, Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering.
