Faculty Positions in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for one full-time regular faculty and one visiting faculty positions starting August 2021 at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The positions are available pending budgetary approval. Applicants with a strong research potential in all areas of mathematics will be considered. 

Candidates are required to have a PhD in mathematics or related areas. Evidence of excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum and strong communication skills in English are expected. Experience in North American-style higher education is highly desirable.

A complete application consists of two PDF files. The first file contains a cover letter, a teaching statement and a research statement. The second file contains the candidate's curriculum vitae along with contact information of three references for letters of recommendation. At least one of those letters should comment on teaching.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at AUS offers a master of science in mathematics, an undergraduate degree in mathematics, a minor in applied and computational mathematics, a minor in actuarial mathematics, and a minor in data science. It provides courses in service to almost every academic program campus-wide. The department currently consists of 25 full time faculty members who are actively engaged in original research in different areas of mathematics and statistics.
