Faculty Positions in the Department of English

The Department of English seeks a full-time faculty member and a visiting professor to teach academic writing courses at American University of Sharjah starting in Fall 2021. (The visiting position is for one academic year.) Candidates for both positions should have a master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant area including Rhetoric and Composition, Applied Linguistics, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), TESOL or a closely related field, and a specialization and interest in academic writing.

Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to excellence in developing academic literacy and evidence of their own scholarship in this area. Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching composition or academic writing in North American-style higher education. Overseas teaching experience is an advantage. 

Successful candidates will have a strong record of excellence in teaching and a demonstrated commitment to productive institutional service.
