Dr. Vernon Pedersen

Vernon Pedersen is a specialist in the history of American and International Communism with emphasis on the maritime unions and the Spanish Civil War.' His teaching areas include American and Soviet history, European history, history of the Cold War and espionage,'as well as maritime history and international security.' He has taught at Shepherd College in West Virginia, the American University in Bulgaria, the University of Great Falls (now University of Providence) and the American University of Sharjah. He is the President of the Historians of American Communism and the author of The Communist Party of Maryland, 1919-1957 and The Communist Party on the American Waterfront: Reform, Revolution and the Quest for Power.
