BSCRG research is mainly focused on the development of novel and sustainable energy systems through fundamental and applied research in bioenergy and solar-thermal conversion processes. The research is interdisciplinary and uniquely combines knowledge in particle technology, thermochemical conversion, solar-thermal and computational fluid dynamic modeling for the conversion of biomass into biofuels, biochar, hydrogen and chemicals. The research seeks methods to advance highly endothermic conversion processes through the integration with concentrated solar energy. The group is currently working on a number of research projects focused on the conversion of solid waste and biomass that is particularly pertaining to hot climate, desert and high saline environment. The current on-going projects are supported by fund from UAE industry, international research agencies, as well as a generous internal fund through the AUS Faculty Research Grant (FRG).
