HPCC  >  Achievements

In May 2018, HPCC hosted a High Performance Computing workshop. The workshop demonstrated the use of supercomputers and parallel processing techniques in solving complex computational problems, as well as how HPC systems have the ability to deliver sustained performance through the concurrent use of computing resources.

Participants of the workshop were introduced to the following:

  • HPC and what it means
  • The components of an HPC cluster structure and software stack
  • Benefits of using HPC over ordinary workstations
  • Different HPC applications in different fields
  • HPC benchmarks

The workshop was facilitated by experts in the field, including:

  • Dr. Khaled Elamrawi, president and co-founder of Brightskies Technologies
  • Nizar Drou, a genomics and bioinformatics professional
  • Ahmad Alabduljabbar, who has more than 20 years’ experience in IT, banking and technology management
  • Olivier Blondel, the Middle East and Africa Business Development Manager of the HPC and AI Worldwide Team
  • Dr. Gerassimos Barlas, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at AUS
