Widely viewed as the top social science in the world today, economics offers students crucial knowledge and insight into the impact of developments in the business, environmental, social and world economies.
Students of economics develop an understanding of how people make choices in all aspects of human activity. It looks at how individuals and societies allocate scarce resources and make choices between alternative uses to satisfy their needs and wants. A practical major in today's ever-changing global job market, economics helps students build the problem-solving and analytical skills that are relevant in many careers and professions.

Why study economics at AUS?
Our Department of Economics is in the School of Business Administration, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) and boasts state-of-the-art facilities. Our faculty members in the Department of Economics have terminal degrees from top North American universities and are experts in their fields, publishing on a regular basis in high-quality international journals. They also present their research at reputable international conferences, appear in media and engage in consulting activities. Our department offers an excellent curriculum consisting of diverse courses designed to provide students with quantitative and analytical skills and application of these skills, making our program an outstanding platform to study economics.
What do we offer?
Our department has two four-year degree programs: a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Economics.

Where do our graduates end up?
Our graduates are employed by various governments and private institutions such as Dubai Economic Council, Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, Emirates Airlines and Shell, among others. A growing number of graduates are pursuing further studies at top academic institutions such as Concordia University, Grenoble Graduate School of Business, the University of Cambridge and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
What is the Economics Club?
AUS Economics Club is a student association for undergraduates majoring in economics, those who are considering the major, or those who are just interested in economics. This club sponsors lectures and events of interest to students and faculty.
