An evening of short plays, featuring the winners of the AUS Middle Eastern Playwriting Competition
The Theatre Program at AUS conducted the first AUS Middle Eastern Playwriting Competition in the summer of 2011. The competition was open to playwrights from all over the world. Professional and student playwrights from four continents submitted manuscripts. The winning one-act plays were Veils and Khalass, both by Tom Coash. These plays deal with very real and important contemporary social issues and made for compelling educational rehearsal and presentation material. The other six plays featured this evening were written by Theatre Appreciation students between 2008 and 2011. They are small slices of life and bits and pieces of events that can occur daily in the UAE and beyond. What makes these plays cohesive is that they all present themes and ideas that are quite common in our daily lives.
tickets may be purchased at the Performing Arts office from 1:30 to 5p.m. daily, or you may purchase tickets at the door before the performance.
