An Evening of Music and Poetry (February 2014)
The Performing Arts Program at American University of Sharjah is delighted to announce a very special event: Canadian soprano Leslie Fagan will perform with Leopoldo Erice, AUS Assistant Professor of Music and world-renowned concert pianist, bringing together two outstanding musical talents of their generation. They will be joined by AUS professors Victoria Amador and Nicholas Karavatos, who will recite the poems of the songs.
Ms. Fagan has been invited on multiple occasions to perform at New York City's Carnegie Hall, and has been acclaimed by Opera News for her "stunning precision and musicality." Mr. Erice has appeared on stages all over the planet and is also the founder of the Festival Internacional de Música Clásica de Ribadeo. This unique evening will include music by Händel, Schumann, Donizetti, Poulenc, Mompou and Obradors.
Tickets are on sale in the Arts Building (room B101) daily between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Note: As part of her visit to the UAE, Ms. Fagan will be teaching a master-class and participating in a Q&A session, which is free of charge and open to the public, on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the same venue as the recital.
