Chancellor’s Distinguished Lecture Series (May 2012)
The Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture Series, in collaboration with the AUS academic units and the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs, is pleased to host Mr. Hussain Sajwani, Chairman of DAMAC, who will give a lecture to the AUS community entitled "Successful Business in Challenging Times."
Hussain Sajwani is a self-driven UAE national and an ambitious entrepreneur who has proven his capability to transfer business vision into corporate reality and to provide the leadership that is necessary to maintain its continuity and growth. A graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in industrial engineering and economics, he is the founder, owner, and chairman of the DAMAC group of companies based in Dubai. He is also amongst the most influential UAE nationals, as he was ranked among the 100 most influential people in the Arab world in 2007.
DAMAC has grown over the years from a specialist catering company established in 1982, into a multi-billion dollar corporation operating in over 20 countries and is one of the largest organizations in the Middle East. Headquartered in Dubai, DAMAC Holdings has expanded its activities across the world with offices in the Middle East, North Africa, CIS States, Europe, the Far East, and the subcontinent. Businesses include DAMAC Properties, DAMAC Invest, DAMAC Al Jazeira Catering WLL, Dariah General Trading Co. WLL, Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles Co, Al Ahlia Insurance, Al Amana Building Materials, and DAMAC Securities.
Hussain Sajwani also holds the chairmanship in several other companies including: Al Ahlia Insurance, Al Amanah Building Materials, and Al Jazeera Services.
