Ian Haydn Smith is a London-based writer and journalist. He is Editor of Curzon magazine, Series Editor of 24 Frames and has just recently completed the first extensive update of 1001 Movies to See Before You Die. He has written and spoken widely on cinema and the arts, and regularly interviews artists and filmmakers for print, broadcast and before live audiences. He is currently completing an edited collection of essays on the cinema of China and South East Asia and is researching for a biography of the American filmmaker Sidney Lumet.
