Part of the Department of English Seminar Series
This presentation examines the recent rise of positive psychology in language learning and teaching. After defining its basic pillars and premises, we will follow its roots in previous approaches and highlight future apparitions. The presentation will conclude with a detailed account of two specific studies in which positive psychology interventions were used successfully. The first is between English-speaking tutors and their learners in the building of social capital; and the second is in the mentoring of novice teachers by those with more experience.
Speaker: Dr. Tammy Gregersen, AUS Department of English
