Inside-Out: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Educators (December 2015)
Stephen Covey authored The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People more than 25 years ago, but his principles and methodologies are still relevant today. This workshop uses Covey's ideologies and applies them to faculty in terms of attitudes toward teaching, adaptability to technology, classroom management and collegiality. Attendees will learn how to adopt Covey's habits in the context of teaching to make the shift from dependence, independence, to interdependence while nurturing personal growth and development. Covey stresses that "The way we see the problem is the problem." Through shifts in personal paradigms and principles, attendees will learn how to become more positive, proactive educators to achieve transformative, enduring change. Personal and interpersonal leadership, personal management, empathic communication, creative cooperation, and balanced self-renewal are concepts that both novice and experienced educators can refine and benefit from.
