Migratory Species Conservation and Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (April 2018)
Migratory species are living threads that connect ecosystems, countries and cultures. Their conservation can support the implementation of biodiversity-related international treaties such as the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This will be a guest lecture for the ENV 194 Introduction to Sustainability course, but the whole AUS community is welcome to attend. We will finish with a question and answer discussion period.
Speaker: Lyle Glowka is the Executive Coordinator of the Convention on Migratory Species Office–Abu Dhabi and the former Senior Legal Advisor to the Convention on Biological Diversity. A biologist and international environmental lawyer, Glowka has been providing legal and policy advice on biodiversity-related issues to governments, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs for almost 25 years.
