A book launch is to be held for Neoliberalism, the Security State and the Quantification of Reality (Lexington Books,
Neoliberalism, the Security State and the Quantificationof Reality addresses the relation between the growing power and dominance of the securitystate and a neoliberal reality in which commercial and financial interestsincreasingly penetrate our social existence. This project includes discussions of neoliberalism, financialization andmanagerialism, focusing on specific issues such as the decline ofprofessionalism, the restructuring of tertiary education, and the university'sabandonment of the humanities. Additionally, the text explorers the linkage between these developments and thefailings of democratic institutions, thegrowth of the disciplinary society and the emergence of the security state.
