Optical Signal Processing in CMOS-Compatible Silicon Nano-Photonics (March 2016)
Developing CMOS silicon-based photonicsholds the promise of disruptively creating new signal processing and transportsolutions through the monolithic integration of electronic and photonicfunctions. Furthermore, integrating photonic components in a CMOS platformprovides the benefits of a significant reduction in power consumption, cost, and size. In addition, there is a great potential in creating new functionsfrom incorporating photonics and electronics on the same silicon chip. In thistalk, implementation and integration challenges of such components inCMOS-compatible silicon will be presented. The focus will be placed on opticalinterconnects and sensing applications.
