Synthesis, FTIR Studies and Sensor Properties of WO3 Powders
Methods to fabricate nano-sized metal oxides for sensor applications will be presented. Recipes to enhance selectivity and sensitivity toward the target gases will be discussed through real data.

About the Speaker
Dr. Sofian Kanan received his BSc and MSc degrees from Yarmouk University. He earned his PhD in Inorganic and Material Chemistry from the University of Maine and worked as a Research Associate at the Laboratory for Surface Science & Technology (LASST), University of Maine, for two years. He also worked as a Senior Scientist at Sensor Research and Development Corporation (SRD-Corp.). He joined American University of Sharjah (AUS) in 2003 as an Assistant Professor at where he was promoted early to the rank of Professor of Chemistry in 2012. Professor Kanan has received a number of awards and grants for his teaching and research activities. He is an editorial board member of the journals Scientific Reports, Research on Chemical Intermediates and Cogent Environmental Science. His research interests fall under the general umbrella of developing material properties through the use of surface chemistry.
