AUS goes Pink with Dean’s Business Team

The Dean's Business Team from the School of Business and Management at AUS held a fundraiser to raise money for Breast Cancer Arabia and Estee Lauder's Breast Cancer Research Foundation on October 4. The event was called "AUS goes PINK!" with pink ribbons being given out for every donation made.

Nikita Phulwani, project manager of the event and a vice president of the Dean's Business Team, said, "We hold a charity-related event each semester. Last time we helped raise funds for Dubai Cares and this time we hosted our event in conjunction with Breast Cancer Arabia's Dubai goes Pink initiative, which is today as well. It's great to see the interest this event has generated with the students turning up in pink and donating to the great charities we are working with."

Hundreds of students and faculty members from across the university wore pink clothes or accessories to embrace the theme. In addition, visitors treated themselves to customized cupcakes and cake pops and pampered themselves with head massages, makeovers and manicures while making contributing. There was also a photo booth set up where students took photographs with a frame that read "I Support Pink." Elegant pink accessories were also sold at the event.

Sponsors included Kitsch Cupcakes, the Estee Lauder Companies, Avon Cosmetics, Polished Nail Spa, Tim Horton's, Arty Gelato and Purely Pearls. Arty Gelato and Polished Spa are businesses started by AUS alumni. The students were able to generate around AED 10,000, which will be split between the two charities. Tim Horton's was a 100 percent sponsor for this event and donated all its revenue for the day toward the cause.

The Dean's Business Team in the AUS School of Business and Management is a non-profit student-based organization that works directly under the patronage of the Dean of the School of Business and Management. The primary mission of Dean's Business Team is to help SBM students gain meaningful experience in the business world: any form of knowledge or activity that results in competitive advantage in future prospects.

The team offers a number of opportunities by means of competitions, projects, lectures and charity programs for the students to display their talent, imagination, knowledge and various other skills, as well as learn more about specific topics. Since 2002, the committee has been an invaluable resource guiding students during their university studies, as well as after graduation.
