American University of Sharjah hosted a performance by popular Syrian musician, Ahmad Azraq, entitled "Leilat Tarab Halabiya" on November 5, 2014. Azraq's performance, which included Muwashahat and Koudoud Halabiya, tarab and folk songs, grabbed the attention of the audience for his strong vocals and impeccable execution of harmony.
The event began with a traditional song and dance performance by Syrian students followed by Azraq's performance of songs and poetry. Seven other musicians accompanied Azraq and they played various instruments including, violins, organ, oud, kanoon, daf and drum.
With a musical history of over 20 years, Azraq enthralled the audience who cheered and danced to his music.
The performance was organized by the AUS Cultural Events Committee and the Syrian Cultural Club.
