Business leader speaks on entrepreneurship at AUS
Kamal Hassan, President of Dubai-based Innovation 360, spoke on entrepreneurship in a lecture on November 7, 2012 at the American University of Sharjah's (AUS) Main Building.
The lecture, entitled "Understanding Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the UAE," focused on several important aspects of entrepreneurship. Additionally, Hassan explained the i360 accelerator program that aims to provide budding entrepreneurs with investment and mentorship.
"Innovation and entrepreneurship are about creating new value. We create value by challenging the idea of 'business as usual,'" said Hassan. "An entrepreneur will copy, transform and combine existing ideas in order to come up with a new concept and launch it. Don't worry about the cost or barriers to entry. In the UAE, it's becoming easier to start a business," he added.
Kamal Hassan is founder, President and CEO (Chief Excitement Officer) of Dubai-based Innovation 360, a global innovation management firm. Hassan works with organizations to enhance value creation through innovative products, services and business models.
Hassan has a master's degree in genetic engineering from San Francisco State University in the US, and has completed executive education courses at Harvard Business School, Leeds School of Business and The Wharton School.
