CEN students qualify for regional rounds of ASCM’s Supply Chain Global Case Study Competition

Students from the College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) have qualified for the regional rounds of the Supply Chain Global Case Study Competition to be held in London, UK, on February 15, 2019.

The annual competition, which is organized by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) in collaboration with Deloitte Consulting LLP, provides student teams an opportunity to enhance and test their supply chain knowledge by working on end-to-end supply chain challenges drawn from company experiences. This year 470 teams from around the world took part in the competition.

Industrial engineering majors Omar Yahya, Hamda Alfalasi, Abdelrahman Albar, and Abdelmonem Elrafaey were recognized for the solutions they provided to the case study. Commenting on the success, team member Abdelmonem Elrafaey said:

“What was most fulfilling about the competition was that we got to utilize what we learned at the Department of Industrial Engineering and apply it to an external activity and it brought us success!”

The CEN students were mentored by Dr. Abdulrahim Shamayleh, Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering, who said:

“The competition gives students the chance to compete in a best-in-class global event and to engage with a leading professional association and a global leader in consulting. It exposes them to real-world case problem solving where they can incorporate the technical knowledge and soft skills they acquired at the Department of Industrial Engineering at AUS.”

Winning teams from the regional rounds will get a chance to present their proposed solution in Las Vegas, USA.
