Dr. Mahboub Hashem receives honorable mention
Dr. Mahboub Hashem, a professor in the AUS Department of Mass Communication, has received an honorable mention for a research paper he presented at the 18th Annual Arab-US Association of Communication Educators (AUSACE) in Tangier, Morocco.
In his research paper, Dr. Hashem observes communicative tools used by individuals when fighting as a strategic reaction to feeling insecure in discussions. The paper, entitled "Bullying and Labeling as Communication Tools of Control and Domination," finds that males are more likely to use these communicative tools in face-to-face interactions, while females have a higher tendency of using them through online communication.
