Ensemble Donaïres brings breathtaking performance to AUS
Ensemble Donaïres presented the AUS audience with the remarkable performance Vaya De Fiestas on the evening of May 5, 2015 highlighting early Spanish dance and music.
The crowd was entertained by the choreography of Ana Yepes based on certain treatises of dance developed in the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque period, such as Arbeau (1596) in France, Carroso (1582) and Negri (1602) in Italy, as well as Jaque (17th century), and Esquivel de Navarro (1642) in Spain. The musical transcriptions and arrangements are the fruit of research carried out by Ignacio Yepes and Gerardo Arriaga.
Ensemble Donaïres was formed in 1999 and has been showcasing dances, operas and recitals with the aim of promoting and garnering interest in medieval European dance and music.
