Italian Ambassador visits AUS

His Excellency Liborio Stellino, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, visited American University of Sharjah (AUS) today, June 30 and met with AUS Chancellor, Dr. Björn Kjerfve. The ambassador was accompanied by Caterina Gigliuto, First Secretary at the embassy.

During the meeting, Dr. Kjerfve briefed the delegates about the university, its establishment and developments through the years. Chancellor Kjerfve spoke about the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of AUS, for the university and future plans for its growth and development. He also discussed with the visiting delegation AUS's goal to become one of the premier research universities in the region and explored ways for Italian universities to partner with AUS.

"It is always a pleasure to welcome distinguished guests to our campus," said Dr. Kjerfve. "This visit provided us with an opportunity to introduce AUS and its various aspects to Ambassador Stellino. We also discussed issues of mutual interest that could serve as potential areas of cooperation in the future," he added.
