Kennesaw State University delegation visits AUS

A delegation from Kennesaw State University (KSU) of the United States visited American University of Sharjah (AUS) to discuss fields of mutual interests and potential cooperation between the two institutions. The KSU delegation met AUS Acting Chancellor Dr. Thomas Hochstettler and other senior university officials on Thursday, February 27, 2014. The meeting was followed by a lunch and a tour of the AUS campus.

During the meeting, KSU representatives expressed their interest in the Gulf Studies Center (GSC) to conduct further research on the region. The meeting also focused on educational topics, such as KSU's Intensive English Program leaning towards professional development and the possibility of establishing student exchange programs between the two universities.

This visit comes as a part of the Kennesaw State University's "Year of the Arabian Peninsula." KSU has a 30-year-old tradition of choosing a specific country or region to be studied and celebrated across the campus, and the Arabian Peninsula has been selected for academic year 2014-2015.

The visiting delegation included Dr. Lance Askildson, Chief International Officer; Dr. Daniel J. Paracka, Year of Arabian Peninsula Coordinator; Dr. Ibrahim Elsawy, Director, Middle East Initiatives; and Christina Emerson, Senior Lecturer in Nursing.

Welcoming the visiting delegation to AUS were Acting Chancellor Hochstettler; Dr. Malcolm Richards, Acting Provost; Salem Al Qaseer, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Kevin Gray, Assistant Professor of International Studies; and other AUS faculty.
