Peer Leaders adopt freshmen during new student orientation

Students from the Peer Leaders Program, an initiative of the Office of Student Affairs' Student Leadership Program (SLP), took an active role during Spring Semester Orientation Week and adopted new students to ease their transition into university life. Peer Leaders provided freshmen with guidance and introduced them to the wide range of activities and organizations at AUS.

Prior to spring semester orientation, the Student Leadership Program conducted a Peer Leaders Feedback session to hear student suggestions based on their experience during fall semester. Based on the responses, the Peer Leaders were motivated to continue adopting freshmen and help them through the rest of the academic year.

Mohammad Hamsho, a junior majoring in civil engineering, added, "The Peer Leader Program was an amazing experience that enhanced my skills in helping others. Throughout this program I have learned how important it is to have someone who can guide you when you move to a new phase of your life. For that reason, I hope to keep continue being a Peer Leader and help as many students as I can."

"The Student Leadership Program is one of the most effective and powerful programs at AUS. I was lucky to be part of it, and my leadership and communication skills were enhanced. During orientation, I met many students from different nationalities and for me, it was a great experience to talk to them, solve their problems and answer their questions," said Ahmed Aly, a junior in industrial engineering.

"The Peer Leaders Program is one of our most popular programs, and we are happy to see students willingly helping freshmen, ensuring that they are well guided during the first weeks of university life. We encourage students who are interested in joining the Peer Leaders Program for next year to apply early as spaces are limited," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
