Photography professor presents his sabbatical story
Mark Pilkington, a photography professor at the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), showcased the work he did during his Spring 2011 sabbatical leave in Malta at the university's CAAD Lecture Hall yesterday, November 22, 2011.
Pilkington's creative work centers on a theme of belonging and longing, and it explores notions of location and dislocation. In this new body of work, he uses himself as a protagonist in an otherwise unoccupied landscape. The landscape used in these works is both familiar and unfamiliar and creates a surreal backdrop for his interactions.
