SBA recognizes Dean’s List students
The School of Business Administration (SBA) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated the achievements of 328 of its brightest students for the 2016-2017 academic year at the annual Dean’s List Celebration held recently on campus.
What made the event doubly memorable was the presentation of the Robert Earl Bateman III Award to finance major Ajith Roy for excelling in academics as well as in leadership programs. The award was established in memory of Dr. Robert Bateman III, Associate Professor of Management at the AUS School of Business and Administration, who passed away in 2015.
Commenting on winning the award, Roy said:
"I am truly honored to receive the Robert Earl Bateman III Award. Throughout my tenure as an undergraduate, I was constantly reminded by the school that my education was simply a small part of the big picture. Inspired by my many colleagues who showed me that nothing is impossible, I made a conscious effort to pursue excellence in all my endeavors. I am humbled at receiving this award, and consider it to be both a huge honor as well as validation for my efforts in the community at large. I thank SBA, the faculty and all those with me in this journey for their unending support and blessings."
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jörg Bley, Dean of SBA, said:
“We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding academic performance of our students. What makes this event so special is that it provides our students with an opportunity to interact and share their success with their professors and dedicated members of our staff.”
The event was also attended by guest speaker Aisha Harab, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Community Development Authority, General Coordinator for the National Service Youth Council at the Ministry of Youth, and a soldier in the National Service Authority Armed Forces, who delivered an inspirational speech, as well as by Dr. Mohsen Saad, Associate Dean, SBA; faculty and staff members.
