SBA students participate in UNGC’s Youth Ambassador Program
Students from the School of Business Administration (SBA) at American University of Sharjah recently participated in the Youth Ambassador Program, launched by the UN Global Compact (UNGC) UAE Network.
The Local Network has developed the Youth Ambassador program to train undergraduate business students on sustainability reporting for UNGC signatories, conduct outreach activities with local companies, and bolster job and internship opportunities in sustainability. Ten SBA students comprised the first group of Youth Ambassadors selected to participate in the training course.
Present during the program were the head of the Local Network and Managing Director of Dubai Real Estate Institute, Mahmoud El Burai, and their senior advisor, Ayla Bajwa, who presented the students with their certificates.
The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world's largest, voluntary corporate sustainability initiative with over 8,000 companies and over 4,000 universities and NGOs. AUS is the only university signatory in the GCC and sits on the steering committee for the UAE Local Network of the UNGC.
The SBA signed a commitment letter with the UNGC last year expressing its commitment to participate in and engage with the UNGC in conducting applied research and thought leadership to advance best practices, to promote the UNGC Compact 10 principles and educate a variety of audiences about sustainability, as well as to support UNGC Compacts business participants in implementing and reporting on their sustaibality efforts.
