Students organize special event for AUS cleaning and security staff
The AUS Student Council, in collaboration with Community Services and the Indian and Pakistani cultural clubs, invited the university's 175 Cleanco staff and 45 security guards to an annual lunch on April 14 to thank them for all they do on campus.
Forty-eight student volunteers prepared fun and engaging activities and served lunch to the Cleanco staff and security guards. Prior to the event, students held a fund-raising campaign for two weeks to generate funds to cover the event's expenses.
Salma Abdel Fattah, environmental science student, said "I found the experience to be very delightful, and I enjoyed seeing them smiling and being recognized for their hard work."
"Our thoughtful and loving students worked hard for this event that they are really proud of. They made an effort to ensure that the university's heroes behind the scenes are acknowledged and appreciated. Through this special gathering, our students expressed their gratitude to the cleaning and security staff for making the university a safe and conducive place to live and study. I thank the Student Council, Community Service volunteers and members of the Indian and Pakistani cultural clubs for making this special gathering meaningful and full of fond memories to cherish," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
