AUS is committed to promoting and supporting internally and externally-funded research, scholarship and creative activities of its faculty and students. Through the Office of the Chief Research Officer (OCRO) it establishes and maintains relevant policies, and advances research integrity and the ethical conduct of research.
The university facilitates the dissemination of the outcomes of the research and creative activities of its faculty and students via journal articles, conferences, intellectual property applications, and technology transfer venues and exhibits.
Moreover, the OCRO promotes university-wide interdisciplinary research collaboration for both basic and applied research aligned with the needs of the United Arab Emirates and the region. The university also seeks collaboration with governmental and industrial entities for the purpose of establishing sponsored research programs and centers.
The OCRO provides high-quality support to campus research, creative activity and outreach initiatives. OCRO helps to identify research opportunities and partnerships, facilitates the submission of sponsored projects, negotiates and executes research agreements, provides research education and communication, and assists faculty, staff, and students in managing projects that are awarded by and to the university.
The OCRO is key to becoming the region’s preeminent private research university. Functioning as an advocate and facilitator, the office will encourage and assist administrators, faculty and leadership in maximizing their research potential as well as facilitating relationships with external agencies to promote research capabilities.
