Mr. Malek El Husseini
Malek El Husseini has serve as the Healthcare Asset Manager for SEE CAPITAL since July 2018, a wellbeing platform that takes a holistic view of health for the social, environmental and economic point of view. The platform is located at Sustainable City Dubai.
Previously, El Husseini was the CEO of Byrne Medical, a medical equipment leasing company working mainly in GCC countries
He served as Healthcare Operating Partner, Alternative Investments at Qatar First Bank from March 2016 to June 2017, a healthcare platform that invests in the healthcare industry across the MENA region. He was the General Manager, Diagnostic Cardiology for GE Healthcare, Middle East, Africa, Turkey & CA, Russia & CIS from September 2012 to February 2016. He initially began working with GE Healthcare as the Manager for Performance Solutions (the consulting arm of GE Healthcare) in the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and Central Asia in 2006. In 2009, El Husseini was appointed the Business Development Director for the Middle East and handled the healthcare investments portfolio for GE Healthcare in the Middle East. He brings more than 24 years of industry experience, with more than 12 years directly related to consulting in healthcare.
Prior to joining GE Healthcare, El Husseini spent seven years as the Director for the ECRI Institute, a collaborating center for the World Health Organization in the Middle East. While working for the ECRI Institute, he interacted with most of major hospitals in the Middle East. He started his career in the United Arab Emirates working as Chief Biomedical Engineer for Tawam Hospital in 1994. Before that, he worked as Biomedical Engineer at Montreal Heart Institute in Canada for three years.
In addition to serving as an advisory board member for BBRI, El Husseini serves as a board member at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, Biomedical Engineering Department. Before that, he served as a board member for Ajman University for Science and Technology.
El Husseini is a lead reviewer for the Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions in Saudi Arabia. He was appointed as an external advisor for IFC/WorldBank for the medical devices manufacturing investment committee. He has chaired and spoken at many conferences at the national and international level, such us Hospital Design and Upgrade Middle East, International Hospital Federation, WorldBank, Columbia Business School Executive MBA program and the World Healthcare Congress.
El Husseini holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Lebanese University and Master of Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Clinical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnic of Montreal. He also attended courses at McGill University as part of his master’s degree.
