Subawards

research  >  Support  >  Proposal Development and Grant Support  >  Proposal Development  >  Budget  >  Sub-awards

A subaward (sometimes referred to as a “subcontract”) is a formal agreement between American University of Sharjah and a subrecipient under a sponsored project.  Most of the award terms and conditions will flow down through to the subrecipient.

The subaward agreement must contain the subrecipient’s proposed scope of work and budget.  Adjustments might be necessary if the initial award is reduced.

When AUS receives sponsored funding, it accepts the obligation to oversee work being performed by entities outside of the university.  The external sponsor holds AUS responsible for the performance of work by subrecipients.

All subawards must be processed and signed by the OCRO. To initiate a subaward agreement, please speak to an OCRO member.
