Chief Research Officer, Dr. Professor Wei Zhao
|Dr. Wei Zhao joined AUS as Chief Research Officer in January , 2018. Dr. Zhao was named Rector (President) and Chair Professor at Macao University in 2008. He previously served as Dean of Science and Professor of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2007 to 2008; Division Director at the National Science Foundation from 2005 to 2007; and worked at Texas A&M University from 1990 to 2005 in many positions, including Senior Associate Vice President for Research from 2001 to 2007, Head of the Department of Computer Science from 1997 to 2001, and advanced from Assistant to full Professor of Computer Science. He has also held teaching positions at Adelaide University and Amherst College. Dr. Zhao earned PhD and MS degrees from University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1986 and 1983, respectively, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Shaanxi Normal University in 1982. Dr. Zhao is the author of several hundred publications and has more than 10,000 citations.

Executive Assistant, Justina Cardozo
Justina Cardozo has more than 15 years of experience working in a university environment in the UAE and Australia. She previously worked at the University of Dubai, as well as at La Trobe University in Melbourne. She has a strong and varied administration experience in higher education setting.
Director of Research Administration and Services , Kathleen Fur
Kathleen Furr comes to AUS from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she was Director of Sponsored Projects. Prior to that she was with the University of Illinois system as the Associate Director of Research Administration, overseeing sponsored projects, compliance and university contracts. Her international experience includes working for the Texas A&M University system in Qatar, handling external grant proposals and she also helped to establish the National Research Foundation in the United Arab Emirates from 2008-2011 under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Kathleen obtained both her BA and MS degrees from Oklahoma State University, a certificate from the American University of Cairo, and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Policy and Leadership.
Sanda Bob, Grants Management Specialist
Sanda Bob joined AUS in 2009 and in 2011 became assistant to the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies. She joined the Office of the Chief Research Officer in 2017. She performs various functions as a lead administrator for all things pre-award, post-award, compliance and reporting on internal and external research grants. She holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj, Romania
Yousra Roziek, Grant Management Specialist
Yousra Roziek joined AUS in 2008 as an administrative assistant and also worked as assistant to the Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Design. She joined the Office of the Chief Research Officer as a Grant Management Specialist in April 2018, where she handles primarily pre-award and compliance aspects of internal grants and IRB Applications. She holds a bachelor's degree in English literature and language from Alexandria University.
M. Rashid Khan, Post-Award Grant Specialist
M. Rashid Khan has joined AUS in November 2018 as a Post-Award Grant Specialist for the Office of the Chief Research Officer. He handles post-award grant management for all internal and external grants, particularly for the College of Engineering. Prior to AUS, he was associated with Aga Khan University (AKU) for more than 10 years for Research and Grants Administration; he left AKU as Assistant Manager Research and Grants Administration. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Iqra University, Karachi, Pakistan.
Famiya Abdul Razzaq, Post-Award Grant Specialist
Famiya Abdul Razzaq joined AUS in November 2018 as the Post-Award Grant Specialist for the College of Architecture, Art and Design and the School of Business Administration, processing internal and external research funding requests. In addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in finance, she is a qualified ACCA member. Prior to joining AUS, Famiya worked as a finance executive at University of Sharjah and Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences. Over the years, she has specialized in treasury, accounts payables and accounts receivables.
Madhav Das, Post-Award Grant Specialist
Madhav Das came to AUS from Khalifa University (formerly Masdar Institute of Science and Technology), where he was the Research Contracts and Grants Specialist, with experience in handling pre-award and post-award activities for both internal and external funding. Prior to working in research administration, Madhav was part of the outsourcing industry in India and has managed outsourced and proprietary processes for companies such as American Express (USA), Simplexity LLC and Sterling Infosystems.
