Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi

Dr. Mahmoud Anabtawi received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1998. Dr. Anabtawi joined AUS in September 2002.

Prior to joining AUS, Dr. Anabtawi was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Physics and Faculty Research Associate at the Center of Excellence in Information System and Engineering Management at Tennessee State University. He was a Participating Scientist in two multimillion-dollar grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Professor Anabtawi has taught graduate and undergraduate mathematics courses for more than 20 years at institutions such as the University of Texas at Arlington, Tennessee State University and AUS. He sponsored several graduate students and supervised their master's theses. His research interests are stochastic partial differential equations, stochastic hybrid systems and fluid dynamics. His publications appeared in journals such as Stochastic Analysis and Applications, Nonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications, Applied Mathematics Letters, Applied Mathematics and Computation, Mathematical and Computer modeling and several others.

Dr. Anabtawi served as the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at AUS from 2006 to 2013. During his tenure, the department flourished and grew to become one of the prominent departments at AUS with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics. He initiated and was instrumental in the establishment of the first Master of Science in Mathematics program in the United Arab Emirates. He is the founder and chairman of the First International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics (AUS-ICMS'10) that was co- sponsored, for the first time in the region, by the American Mathematical Society (AMS).

Dr. Anabtawi is a member of the American Mathematical Society and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Stochastic Analysis and Applications published by Taylor and Francis.
